LOOKING AHEAD...
We're looking forward to this upcoming year as being the best year yet at Alpaca Blanket Project! Our planner
includes working with other fiber processors in producing a US shearing standard, increasing our run
production from one to two runs this year, continuing our fiber sorting classes (beginning in June), looking into
transportation to get our Members' fiber from the east coast to our NorthWest location, and acquiring a retail
outlet to introduce our precious alpaca to the public. We're also trying to put together a shearing resource list,
so if your shearer did an optimum job giving you a high percentage of USABLE fleece, share their name with
us. We would love to give them some free publicity!
ARE YOUR READY FOR SHEARING SEASON?
Shearing season is coming soon. We'll be looking for your fiber to help reach the goals of ABP and its
membership! Upon reaching our goal of 25,000 pounds this coming season we will be able to increase the
price of fiber per pound for the following season. And remember to use the Fiber Collection Standards at the
back of your Membership Agreement when talking to your shearer this year! Be sure they know that they aren't
just taking the fiber off the animal for shows anymore--their mistakes will be costing you money! Make sure
they shear to give you the most money back!

We got a new GPS for Christmas and just HAVE to try it out! So we're going to make a quick weekend fiber
collection up the I-5 corridor, weather permitting. If you have fiber to turn in and you can meet us along I-5
between Albany, Oregon, and Tacoma, Washington, on FEBRUARY 27, CLICK HERE to let us know. We're
putting together our route now, so contact us asap to be put on the list.
